I really like this jacket matched with short denim and wooden heel sandal. Hmm

This style describes pretty much everything about this season.

I am not a big fan of short socks matched with sandals since that makes my legs look SUPER short.

Anyways, yea i think this jacket is a great way to add more formality into the outfit.

I am glad I don't have to see more of sailor-inspired jacket this season.....(not as much as last year..)

Aww there were too much of sailor stuff last year and I am pretty sick of it finally.

Let's go floral this time, yea?

Matching little accessories such as ethnic rings and bracelet would go well with this look.

And don't forget wooden heel sandals! That is definitely must-have and yes I do have it too!

The School of the Art Institute of Chicago

So I recently had this great opportunity to go to School of the Art Institute of Chicago's Fashion Show.

I missed it last year and it was not very pleasant for me to regret thousand times after looking at amazing photos from the show. So hell yea I went! It was actually my first time going to art school's fashion show so I honestly did not know what to expect at first- I assumed it would be more experimental and funky.(and it was.) I was super excited to go and since I haven't been outside for awhile because of my new project, ( aww I still smell like glue-gun) it was type of little treat for myself and plus, great motivation. Here is a quick review of the show featuring incredibly talented fashion students' 2011 collection.

Many, many people came to see the show and it was good to see fashionable folks here in Chicago.

I was up all night a night before the show-I looked like a crap therefore let's skip photos of myself. :(

The second garment reminds me of Tsumori Chisato- in a good way:)

Somehow this collection is somewhere between Antonio Marras and Tsumori.

Both of my favorite designers. Matching them with oxford shoes is just too perfect.

And finally, designers' turn.

Overall, it was very good show-thou only thing that made me little disappointed was some of the collection was just surprisingly lacking its craftsmanship. Most of the garments were just wonderful, but since I was sitting in the second role, I could see details of the garments and it seemed really incomplete.

(Especially there was this beautiful dress that was dropping its jewels/gems/beads everywhere on the runway as the model was walking.)

Well, I will come back with my favorite trend items for this spring+summer!

Who doesn't like all-black outfits when it is still chilly outside?

It makes me look slim, chic, and simply stylish.

I love how she matched black wedge sandal with this outfit.

And one of my forever wishlist- oversized black coat.

(with thinner materials..for spring! Oh Wait

I guess it doesn't matter here in Chicago. It's still freeeezing!)

So just like how I am craving for black wedges- seems like everyone does!

This season, there will be all different kinds of wedges in stores

including my favorite wooden platform wedges. I personally love wedges that

are not so steep (of course along with elevation)- just like this wedge she is wearing!

Everyone-has-it bag! Those bags are sure super convenient.

Yes, these intriguing photo of Tao Okamoto immediately stole my heart not only with her all-time attractiveness, but also with fabulous fall fashion style. Beautiful fall trench coats have riched up with patterns and shapes..also mini wool dress- is must have items for the season. I would recommend the simple mini wool dress matched up with fun color tights-although in these photos, black tights took the top-list of the color again. Personally LOVE the black beret Tao is wearing in the third picture. I will follow up with the fashionista's most-craved item for this fall. I am already shopping online 24/7 these days..

I recently found out about this wonderful brand Fair Ground- which I was burst out of tears in happiness to see such a perfect combination of Japanese-cawaii culture blended with Fashion elegancy. Here are some of my favorite pieces from their collection-

I just cannot get over with those animal heads cardigans... Those items from the collections are not on sale, however they do feature some similar products for sale. Beautiful floral patterned fabircs and bold denim products has been made into many different forms- skirts, bodysuits, dress, shorts and so on. They are so sexy, seems little naughty, but in the end-very elegant. (and here I am dying over those wedge boots which model is wearing.) So what do u think about this collection? I found it very interesting and actually am so enlightened- at the products' price range, which is like they said, 'main stream ruler'. Since the many collaboration projects among the famous designers with huge chain markets such as Target has been very popular and went for the trend - I guess it is time to welcome( or look forward to see) all these brands who are willing to stay on earth about their price range.

Street Snaps in Korea

I recently have found this awesome site that features street fashion in Korea. It's called Hiphoper and I have really enjoyed so many amazing fashion they show at the site.
I have been comparing street fashions around Asia- the craziest fashion street Tokyo compared to Seoul is- Korea has better combination of 'safe' fashion and 'crazy' style. When I look at FRUITS magazine, I often see those insanely wonderful (or just insane) fashion peeps around Harajuku and Shibuya area. Sometimes you can't avoid thinking that it's just too much. I have never seen such fashion people in Korea- somehow Korean fashion peeps are more into balance between being safe and also being special-adding good amount of uniqueness into the outfit. Maybe the Koreans are much more self-conscious on the street, not going over the edge, but I just like how they make it sense, AND super hot.
(doesn't mean that I don't like Japanese fashion! I think they are HOT in their own way)

Style of the day from LUCKY-Simply Stylish

I just came up with the conclusion that in this type of boiling weather, being simple as possible-is the easiest and comfortable way to treat your outfit. I always thought that such minimalist style can get little too simple or should say 'plain' and I just could not give up matching big accessories whenever I try such outfit. However, it seems like there have been fun design coming out in this too-boring-minimalist style-Slashed, fringed, off-the-shoulder, open-back, and so on. Here is one style suggestion from our store-from Lucky style category. We simply matched up this back-tie tshirts with comfortable baggy pants. I personally love how those shirts surrounds and glamorize my shape. It's surprising to see how simple it works-thou it does its job more than I expected. Oh yea and those baggy pants- very chic, yet really comfy.(its waist is elastic band) Now you can walk around outside and feel less terrible about the fact your wardrobe is just way too flattering for the weather.

Ebony and Ivory

I am sure that none of you have heard about this awesome pop pianist-just yet. This pop pianist recently released his beautiful first album and actually this Thursday I was invited to see his first concert "I'm All Yours" in Seoul. I have known him personally since he is good friend of my brother from Berklee School of Music. I was so excited to see him in tv shows recently-and he actually made very successful debut in here. There are two different kinds of self-composed songs in his recent album. One is very soft and gentle while the other one is wild and powerful. He introduced very strong performance-hitting the piano keyboard with his fist, pounding his feet on the ground to create his own background beat. Actually, the famous Japanese jazz pianist Hiromi Uehara came up to my mind while I watched his performance. Hiromi Uehara does very similar performance, while Jiho's performance seemed more cruel and harsh. Seeing his hands all bleeding after the show seemed to be expected-and I was very worried to see such pain that follows after each performance while it seemed like he didn't even know that he was bleeding during his passionate play. Anyways, I loved most of the songs it was featured in his first album. They are very beautiful. You can listen to his songs if you go to his website- http://www.cyworld.com/jihoshin

Jiho from the famous Korean tv shows named Stocking. I enjoyed watching him playing with popular idol group CN Blue during the show.

His first concert was held in this cool place named...something I don't remember. The place was very well mood-designed-although his company didn't give us much to eat during the show. I went there with empty stomach since I was told that there will be dinner before the show. And here is what I got-

4 pieces of salmon...It was yummy but hey, I barely could satisfy my stomach with this!!!!!!

Getting ready to go to dinner after the show! Personally liked that back-stage room.

At dinner after the show. I went there with his managers and other company-related people. It was fun and I had bunch of soju... Anyways, I would recommend you gals to listen to his songs since it has pretty good mix of jazz and those emotional-movie-featured piano songs. It's just easy to listen to and if you like the legendary composers like Ryuichi Sakamoto and Yuki Guramoto, it's kind of must-listen-to music. :)

These 50's inspired looks are gorgeous-especially these designers, including Nina Ricci's amazing red bustiers and silouette-hugging long skirts. Style.com always give great ideas about new trends and this one was one of my favorite trend of this fall-Fifties Something. I recently got into obsessive vintage shopping and have went through amazing stuff around many different vintage shops around here. I think the difference between Korea and US vintage shop is- that it's easier to find rare Japanese vintage items in Korea. Japanese vintages are lot of times have better fit and shapes. (I might think this way since I am more Japanese size than American size) Anyways, those long length skirts and classic patterns( which are often very fun) are now one of my big pleasure in life. Oh and also those low-neck bustier-inspired looks are just way too amazing.

My another favorite trend this season is- Man Up. I have been loving ethnic-boho look last winter, chunk up myself with tons of layers, rich up with colors and patterns. However, I started to get super attracted by this minimalist trends that has been explored by designers. And yes, I think adopting men-wear designs are very good way to reach that attractive style of minimalism. I LOVE Celine's collection this season since her adoption of men-wear seems very fresh in its overall shapes. They are obviously inspired by men-wear, and the fits of the jackets and pants are actually very similar to those of men's. However, there is still beautiful feminine quality to overall fashion they creates. It's simple, luxurious, elegant, and to-the-point type of chic.

Summer outfit ideas

Talk about this huge trends of see-through stuff this season- Try on bikini top underneath that sexily visible layer. Match it with denim shorts and one big jewelry that would highlight the outfit. I often have fun trying crazy patterned bra tops inside. The patterns creates even more rich feeling by adding enough amount of transparency colors on top.

This artistic drapery dress is one of the highlight item we are currently featuring in our store- goes wonderful with fedora and ethnic accessories. It is light and easy to move around- a perfect piece for the vacation.

Such long skirts are one of my favorite style of the season- just putting one simple long skirts (or dress) seems cool enough. Match the cute little frill top to balance such plain-ness that skirt gives to the outfit.

Holika!!

So I recently had chance to try this new cosmetic brand in Korea. Holika Holika has launched its first store on last April, and has been expanding its stores all around Korea. I only have been to the one at Myundong, (immediately walked into the store since the exterior and interior of the store was so pretty!!!!) and it seems like they are pretty reasonable place to shop for skin cares and cosmetics.

Here are some of my reviews of their items- for those of you who are looking for fresh face products-

HD Skinny Primer Base

This primer is probably one of the best primer I have ever used. It covers every single pores on my face really effectively- my skin feels like a silk and it absorbs the powder super evenly. My face looks very silky and simply, flawless. (by no kidding)

Peach Girl BB Cream

Korea is super famous for its magic cosmetic- BB Cream. And YES, I am one of the girls who LOVES it so much. It's one of the miracle that happened in the cosmetic history. If any of you have never tried BB Cream, and has some skin parts to hide on your face, I will strongly recommend to try BB Cream. There are tons of different brands that sell BBCream, and most of them are pretty good. However, you have to be really careful with how much greasy they can get. I personally really like this Peach Girl BB cream since it is super smooth and feels really light after applying it. You don't even need to put powder after this. It already does the brightening and covering job all by itself.

Fairy Bakery Cookie Chip Blush

I am huge fan of MAC for their wonderful Blush collections-but Holika Holika actually has as-good items and this specific blush totally stole my heart. I LOVE how natural it looks on my face! The color is soft indie pink and I personally think this would match with any type of skin color.

Wonder Drawing

Talk about cool stuff- this is real cool little thing. I always had complaints about eyeliners not being able to fill in the space between the space of each eyelashes- it always looked pretty empty and that part is real pain in my ass to fill in with the brush. I was so excited to find this new type of eye liner-which is specifically made to fill in those areas of the eyes. I only have used it for few times, but it works pretty awesome.

Starlight

I have been using all different brands' lip sticks and lip glosses- and Holika Holika's lipstick is really wonderful in its color and applies on the lips really well. I got super light pink color lipstic and it makes me look like a gyaru in the middle of Tokyo lol. I love how smooth it is and color is just so pretty. The brand has few different collections of lip cosmetics-but i personally think this Starlight collection is the prettiest.

So these are all the items that I have experienced with Holika Holika. I haven't used their Skin Care just yet. I heard it's really good-but I am super careful about the skin care since my skin is really sensitive and am afraid if they will make my skin to break out. I am brave enough to try different cosmetics (like primer, BBCream and so on) However, Skin Care-it's a different story. I will try them after reading more reviews of others. Overall, the brand seems pretty reasonable and I love their mission statement and those all about 'magic' and 'miracle' concept of the store. If you have chance to see their store, check them out!

Style of the Day from BYUL

Introducing uniquely shaped stripe skirt matched with summer trend items. Matching the wedge heel sandal and simple graphic tshirts would do perfect to create casual look. Sunglasses and metallic bag(the one I chose is different than the bag within the photo.) is fun highlight for the outfit. Create city preppy look with this distinctively designed skirts-and these days it seems like shorts and mini skirts are no longer on popular demand of our store. Mid-length skirts and trousers seems to be the best item for this summer and of course, the maxi skirts. You don't have to show too much to be sexy anymore. Be chic, stylish, and yet feel comfortable with this breezy, snuggy outfit.

Just thought that I should share this beautiful photos from China's Modern Weekly 2010. Sources are listed in the bottom. These shots of beautiful model that brings up such a classic oriental scene, I was so attracted by its exotic beauty and how photographer caught that oriental beauty of mysty, romantic feeling without giving too much idea of the background as proving that they were actually shot at Asia. Each photo has just right amount of ideas from the background and that's why model immediately get the attention within the space she is given in the photo. Just LOVE it!!!

Street Snaps my favorites

I just fell in love with this outfit- olive toned beautiful Japanese preppy mix with hint of boho. Personally love her hair color matched with the outfit. I recently got into such string bag pants (which I call sausage pants) matched up with clogs. Her clogs might be little out of season, but does most of the job to make her look special-adding boho aesthetic.

On the street in this weather, I often see this type of outfit- sleeveless onepiece matched up with long scarves. I really enjoy using thin cardigan as a scarf- I can use them to prevent air conditioner in cafes.
Her scarf is just too perfect with the color of the dress and her shoes.

Such overalls or suspender denim are pretty big thing this season- and this outfit- I was intrigued by shorter length of the denim which creates super cute marine look with striped shirts on top. Oh and look at that popular flower flip flop- good way to add some points to the outfit.

OMG. This outfit is absolutely my favorite- recently so got into maxi dresses and this one, is so beautiful and artistic. Look at that illustration print and sheer chiffon colors!! It goes brilliantly with her hair- adding just right amount of girlish aesthetic with the bear accesories. Also, don't you love how she matched tailor jackets with maxi dress-along with black oxfords? This is totally fresh chic way of styling that I just learned.

Here comes the most popular style of the season here in Korea. Hairbands, white girlish short dress matched up with high heels-and don't forget to put pretty socks on!

I really love how her umbrella goes well with her skirts. Both of them totally rich up the colors and pattern of the outfit. Matching up the leather items with such colorful floral skirt is just wonderful. Love the second picture of her face.

Here comes another scarf outfit! I personally really like this simple style. Artistic leggings is just enough to prevent such simple look to go wrong- looking boring.

Yeeess!! I really love this marine inspired look. Blue and little dirty ivory and beige goes well with navy color she chose. However, maybe her sweater was too heavy- and not very flattering for such outfit. I would rather put thinner layers of cardigans on top. That would be chic.

Celeb Style- Kate Moss

Models are the symbol of beauty in contemporary world, and it is general perception thinking that all the models are beautiful. However, when I think about 'beautiful' model, Kate moss is definitely always on top of the list. It's not that she is only beautiful- she is unique, intelligent, and super chic. Who doesn't love her gorgeous line and the store Top Shop?

When I think about this beautiful model- she reminds me of the color gold. It might be is because of that large gold statue of her by Marc Quinn, however her face expression- silent, elegant and dreamy look doubled up with her boho feeling is best to describe as color gold. Viewers feel gold sun-shiny warm aura around her. It's just always there. It's ridiculous how I am posting about her at last- I feel like it should have been done long time ago since she is one of the most significant fashion icon in the world. Kate Moss as a fashion icon has been going on awhile and I personally loved the time when she made general public to go crazy about Vivienne Westwood's pilot boots. I still am dying to have one pair of them. She looks so unique in face feature and I always feel type of ecstasy when I see the precious expression she presents in every photos. Here I brought up some of her styles and like always, some items from our stores inspired by her wonderful outfits. I often saw her in black outfits-(like, really often) so I focused in black color items this time.

Hello Kitty Cafe diary

I went out for little picnic on other day, and got to visit this amazing Hello Kitty Cafe. I have heard about the place so many times from my friends so it was exciting to find there on our no-destination walking within Hongdae.

Look at this pretty interior!! There were so many girls inside of the cafe. Also, many guys who seemed really uncomfortable but trying-to please their girl friends.

The cafe had some goodies and the best of the dessert was- waffles! They had super tasty waffles which came along with the best ice cream. It was one of the best dessert I have ever had for a long time. (which was sweet enough to satisfy my made-with-sugar tongue)

It wasn't expensive at all either. I was pretty surprised about the price-since most of other fancy cafes in Hongdae are pretty pricy. However when it comes to the drink- this cafe wasn't the greatest. (maybe thats why?) Oh and their little gift corner at the front- they sells all different kinds of Hello Kitty stuff.. I was having hard time not to purchase anything. Since I already have too much of them in my house-from when I was elementary school. Hello Kitty sure is addictive. It lasted almost 15 years for me to finally handle my obsession towards it!!!

I could not take a good picture within the cafe since it was super crowded- I was desperately wanting to take a photo of those chairs which are hello-kitty shape. It is so cute but those ppl never stood up while I was there. Obviously, everyone was celebrating their special day finding a seat in famous Hello Kitty Cafe. (Lot of people had to leave since there was no seat...I was lucky enough!)

This drink, is called Ice Choco. (Too simple and it tastes like it too.) At least it looks cute in the beginning. Hello! Kitty!

My friend wearing pretty vintage dress from the vintage sale in Chicago. We were studying FLASH for creating new website. (which is our goal for this summer). Do you see that fan she is holding? Everyone get it for free if you order a drink. Perfect gift in this weather.
Don't you love the color of that sofa? It was pink-overloaded within the cafe. Yes, it was total heaven for me.

This is another adorable animal I explored on our way out. Great work!! This is what I love about the place- you always explore new paintings on the wall- and very often, they look lovely.

After walking around shopping, we went to the night show- at Bbang Club. They feature many indie bands and this is another must-go place at Hongdae. Night Show is pretty big thing around here and this was my first time going to one- I was full of excitement and the show was- pretty good. However, I should say that a lot of bands-their style was very limited. If I could, I would suggest to be little more experimental for all of them. Every bands were singing their self-composed songs but to be honest- they sounded all the same to me. Thou the interior of the club was really cozy and classy.

It's hot. It's way too hot. Korea is steamingly hot these days and I simply cannot live without air conditioner. Just walking to nearby bus station drains me- I get super sweaty. Everyone on the street- I seriously give a great respect to whoever wears skinny jeans or cardigans in this weather. Seriously people.. TAKE OFF ur goddamn CLOTHES!!! I think it would seem much more stylish and chic if you dress up in lighter manner-especially in this steaming weather. People say time to time- that being stylish comes along with the pain. However-in this case you don't need to feel any pain. Just putting one layer of pretty dress would do. Here is one of our new beautiful dress we introduced in our store. Magazines that Rock

So before I say anything about this, I will confess that I am not Japanese and am not fluent in Japanese. I can barely read the magazine, and 50% is me guessing what they seems to make sense in relation to the photos. Anyways, different countries have different structures-for example, I see too much advertisements in US fashion magazines. Japan has many varieties when it comes to magazines-according to their variety of different cultural group within the Japan- I have been a fan of Japanese magazine for such a long time. (about 8 years now). According to my experience with them, I realized they are the most rich in its context- shopping guide, outfit suggestions, trend reports.. and so on. They gives so many photos of different outfits and try to give ideas about certain style of dressing in most efficient manner.

It's funny to look at different fashion magazines in Japan, because each of their styles are so different. It's like they made magazines for each cultural group and style within the Japan. There are magazines for popular teenage clothing (which is similar to teen Vogue or Seventeen in US), J-pop style (like Amuro Namie or Koda Kumi), Punk Lolita Style, Natural style, Luxury Style, California-admiring style, and so on. I will just list some of my favorites. Also, here is the thing- Japanese magazines are fun to look at although you don't speak Japanese. It's because they have way too many photos you can look at. Photos explain everything. You will have so much fun looking at different outfits and make-up tutorials. If you get to go to Asian market, check out some Japanese magazines. They rock!

Cancam is one of the most popular fashion magazine in Japan. I first started to read it when I was second grade middle school. It majorly shows popular style of mid 20-to early 30 ladies' style. They feature outfits you can wear in many different occasion from office-look to going-on-a date look (in summer, it's majorly focused in vacation look of course). Aside from Fashion, they often suggest luxury brand items that is popular in Japan, and bento guide.( Cooking guide-related to diet menu) I think Cancam has one of the most rich contents.

Vivi targets women who loves J-pop style added to admiration towards US pop style. Also they majorly use models who are half-Japanese. It is interesting to see how they show such mixed style of Japan and United States. They adopt both US brands and Japanese brands and always gives you helpful ideas about outfits and new collection from popular brands. (They have more unique photographs compare to Cancam- where Cancam often gives you direct shot of outfits, they do it in more fashion-photography manner. It's more fancy I should say.) I think they are targeting early 20- to late 20 ladies. They are much more flashy in its style compare to Cancam. (They often features Koda Kumi and Leah Dizon- along with Rhianna and Paris Hilton. That explains everything.)

Ranzuki is.... one of the sub-culture type of magazine I feel like. I think Ranzuki is targeting the sub-culture in Japan called Mamba and gyaru. (those girls who puts brown make up on their face and gets tanned and blah blah...)I heard those groups are inspred by California style, and the magazine shows such style mixed with their own unique super FLASHY color mixes. Of course, most of the models are very tanned or has their hair dyed into yellow. They always have super thick make ups and often features casual styles that reminds you of Hollister. (more like Hollister has gone mad-style.) It's fun to look at their make-up tutorials since you will be surprised to see how much step they take to make such detailed makeup. Color contact is must-have item for them.

Pinky is little weak version of Vivi-and targeting mostly teenagers who are about to graduate and go to college.(that sounds weird) Anyways, they have good mix of casual style and j-pop inspired dress-up style. I personally loved Pinky in the beggining since my favorite Japanese model Nozomi was main model in Pinky. They are very girly, and the taste seems very young.

Popteen = TONS of decoration. Popteen used to be one of my favorite magazine until last year before my taste has changed. Popteen shows teenager fashion in super bling-bling style. They focuses in little details, (such as nail arts-it's one of the major feature in this magazine) and very flashy, mostly casual outfits for girls. I just loved their super girly, pinky style finishing with playful fashion experiments. (also love the fact that they don't have much advertisements)

Seventeen is one of the most popular teen fashion magazine. They feature fashions for teenagers- and the fun part is that they show you how to be fashionable while wearing school uniforms. It's so much fun to see the details they show- the length of the loose socks, what needs to be in your school bag, the skirt length, and lots of school-romance related articles. They geniusely give ideas about hair style, makeup, and tips about school uniforms that doesn't go against limitation of school rules. I think Seventeen in Japan is so romantic and cute- you can totally feel the teenage culture through the magazine. The magazine bombs with hilarious articles during Valentine's Day special issue.

Non-no is still my favorite, but I don't read it often. I used to read it every month, and it was because of their comfortable, natural style. They seems like they have power to make such simple and ordinary fashion items to shine. Their suggestions about outfits are often brilliant. They are never overdone. Also I love their page where they show you how to wear limited items in differnt way. They always feature your week-long coordi, and they brilliantly put same shirts and pants with different items-making it look totally fresh everyday. It's one of the most useful magazine I have found. You don't learn what to buy- you learn how to WEAR.
Oh and I am huge fan of their main model Danaka Miho. I have feautred her in celeb fashion article in this blog long time ago.

Cutie is in-between magazine. I personally like this magazine, however you honestly don't get too much out of it. They are lacking in information and photos. However, just like their name, they have some pages that are worth to buy the magazine-(which I always end up doing) Their style is focusing in layered outfits, and I think they are mix of popteen + Kera. I will explain Kera in next one. Anyways, if you are looking for some light magazine that you can quickly take a look, Cutie is a good choice. They also show good range of street fashion as well. (of course no compare to FRUITS. If you are looking for Street Fashion, get FRUITS no matter what.) Cutie is the magazine I love which I don't know what exactly I love about this. Maybe it's their cute gifts that comes with magazine when you buy it. I got pretty ribbon pouch last time I bought this magazine. They are really cheap too. And someone like me who judge the magazines with its cover, you will not be able to pass by Cutie. Somehow their magazine cover is always the prettiest one.

Kera is my favorite magazine along with So-En. It is specifically targeting the punk & Gothic & Lolita group. They often feature Tsuchiya Anna and other visual kei bands. What I love about Kera is that they show some briliant outfits and coordi that you cannot find in other magazines. Their coordi seems extremely unique to me and although I don't dress up in such style, I become an admirer of such style. They are just wonderful and genius in color and accessories. You will see how advanced and fashionable Japanese punk culture is. I mean, you can guess if you have read NANA. Kera is so playful, charismatic and sweet at the same time. Always worth to buy.(for me at least.)

So-En is my another favorite magazine- and yay! Iconiq was the cover of So En. (remember the celeb article I wrote about Iconiq?) So-En focuses in Japanese art school style and Japanese fashion designers who share unique style of line. Some of them are very well known, and some of them are featured from their college graduate fashion show. Since it focuses in Art&Fashion in Japan, you see many strong pieces of emerging designers and get to know about their recent collections. I often feel like a finding a treasure when I read ths magazine-since I get to find out about college fashion student who made awesome collections- I write their name down, and look for their websites. I just love how they focuses in Japanese emerging designers and give readers opportunity to sneak a pick at brilliant emerging designers or students. Definitely worth to buy.

Kangaroo for bag

I am not a vegetarian, (although I just don't like eating meats in general.) or Vegan, but I could not help but getting little offended by this one artist's fashion project. She is a Japanese artist name Mai Ueda, and her fashion project-collaboration with one of my favorite brand-CELINE, seems little weird to me. (or should I put it in the way that it is little "wrong".)

So, the problem is not about the bag itself- the Mai Bag is actually seems pretty good idea- adopting the design of mundane shopping bag and in appreciation of its usefulness-transforming the design with luxurious material. (although I have seen this type of design way too many times from long time ago.)

Anyways, Mai's site describes this project and the description follows-

"Mai Bag for Celine

Is one of Mai's fashion project.
She designed democratic style shopping bag with controversial material baby kangaroo skin. To make one bag which looks just like shopping bag we had to kill two baby kangaroos in Australia. Kangaroo skins are thin and strong. She collaborated with French fashion house Celine for producing, marketing and distribution of the bag. Mai made special color edition of Gold, Silver and Bronze for Celine. Gold and Silver ones have artificial pattern design on surface by injecting silicon. She made a video art project that she styled herself in Celine clothes and walked around in a desert in Colome, south of Argentine, having her boyfriend of the time shooting it. Also made news paper "The Mai Ueda Times" as press release/magazine and did performance around the world to promote the bag in 2006. One of a performance was a part of Display Esthetic by Item Idem which took place in a show window of Celine Omotesando Tokyo boutique. The performance was about her simply hanging out in the show window as if she is at home in her room, sometimes posing for audience out side of window, sometimes inviting her friends for picnic style meal.
It was an experiment on beauty, luxury and practicality."

So, okay, I get it and the bag is really practical and wonderful.

However, does anyone feeling little hmmm?-ing by the description saying that they "have to" kill 2 baby kangaroos to make one bag? And the bag has been sold around the world? And the collection actually is sold out? But that she is still taking an order from online? (plus, who cares if her ex-bf shoot the video?)

Yes, I might be the only one who think this way- and you would ask me what about minks? Making one mink coat costs numbers of minks.(maybe they "have to" kill entire family of minks-according to their small size.)

I will admit-I am against those animal-killing fashion items and I think they are wrong-at least for me.

I don't think you need to kill animal in order to make yourself beautiful.

I know it can bring up numbers of discussion about this topic, but I just had to write about this bag

since I was also interested in ths project being called as an "artist's project".

I am an artist in fine art field, and am just really interested in fashion-and that's why I started this blog. I know fashion world function/process differently and its mentality is absolutely different from Fine Art, (although there time to time some artists cross the line and connects the two. Like, Louis Vuitton's project with Olafur Eliasson and Takashi Murakami-which was, wonderful, in their own sense.)

So, here is the point- her project seems like it doesn't do its job as an artist project. I personally thinks this is a great example of wanna-be famous attempt of artists interested in fashion, and I think we don't need anymore of those pointless cliches.

This is non-leather material mai bag. I mean, it would have been great if you just make the bag with leather-like material in the beginning so that you don't have to do this second option which looks extremely cheap. (I think this is an acrylic or something..this doesn't looks like a reborn of mundane shoppng bag. It just looks like a real shopping bag.)

If Mai or Celine's fan reads this and if got offended - I apologize cuz I didn't mean to offend anyone. And to be quiet honest, I really like Mai's New Media practices and her funny songs. They r just wonderful. And Celine, like I said, they have been one of my favorite brand - that is the reason why I was even more concerned about this bag- because I liked those two in general. Just one of the little disappointment I have experienced.

Trend Report- Baggily heavenly

These days I don't wear mini skirts and shorts as often as I did last year. Somehow, I am bit concerned to wear them because I don't feel comfortable showing too much skin-which is weird since I have never felt that way. Well, whenever I come back to Korea, my fashion style change since the culture is really different-and in this culture, you become extremely self-conscious and care about what other people think about you on the street. No wonder why I felt such a freedom in my fashion when I came to US when I was 15. If you are not skinny enough, you are basically not allowed to wear skinny jeans or shorts and mini skirts that completely shows the skin and shape of your legs. I mean, it doensn't really matter if you wear them or not, but you feel other's eyes on the street really strongly. So if you challenge such culture and walk around the street with shorts when you are not slim-enough, you will feel others' eyes watching your legs-saying "i don't think u should wear them" -type of look.
Anyways, I am not trying to talk about my sadness being in here but to explain new savior that became trend- basically saved me from temptation to wear shorts and skirts. Baggy pants, harem pants and those loose trousers are becoming a huge trend on the street. I have recently purchased 2 baggy pants and they are amazing. They makes the outfit both casual and chic at the same time! It looks so stylish with my high heels. I always have wondered what kind of shoes I should match with them-but guess what-they goes perfectly with basically anything. Even sneakers look cute with them.
Also matching them with tailored jacket is awesome, too. It creates whole artist-in-business look. I am so into these pants and am having fun with new baggy pants coming out in various fun patterns and colors. I recently even saw the space-patterned baggy pants decorated with bunch of stars. It was so gorgeous. (although i didn't get to purchase one..pretty but not my style)

Style of the Day from LUCKY

Here is the first update of this week. Super cawaii rabbit hairband matched up with denim shirts and floral dress. It is such a lovely combination-and its lovely-overloaded has calmed down by black leggings and wonderful black leather high heels. Denim shirts always creates that feeling of vintage and add some preppy girl image to the outfit. This mix-matched style is currently the biggest hit in Seoul. It's so warm outside that you feel like you have been thrown into an oven-but when you go into cafe and chill for little bit-it's freeezing. Korea's summer is always like this-Inside is freezing, and outside is burning. Therefore, I always bring around one jacket or thin cardigan-so that I will not catch the cold. This lovely denim jacket is light, thin, and most importantly, perfect amount to add some preppy girl to your outfit. It is easy to carry, and just good enough to secure you from the cold air conditioner.

ps: Big highlight of this outfit- definitely the rabbit ear hairband. My favorite!!!!

Burn my body

Okay, so this is the season of swimsuits and everyone is so concerned about their body shape....

Therefore, here I am going to suggest some body slimming products for the gals who are trying to shape their body into its perfect condition for the swimsuits.

I have used sooo many different types of body slimming products in my life- overall, I am one of those 365days have-to-be-on-diet type. I gain weight really easily and along with exercise and nutrition control, I tried numerous body gel products for shaping the body. Some worked, and some didn't.

Today, I will recommend the best item I have used before-which I am still using- after many failure with other products.

This is Japan brand called SANA Esteny. I have tried all of their slimming products and it's the BEST overall. Especially this one works great on my tummy fat. After you put it on your waist and massage it for 5 minutes, it slowly gets super hot. Literally, HOT. I used it in the winter and after I came back from the gym and took a shower- put this and go out, I always fetl very warm. It feels great and I actually felt my cellulites going away after using it for about 3 weeks. (Thou you have to massage it well-put some effort.)

These are other items from SANA- they work pretty good.

Nothing compare to those products where it's super expensive and you use it- nothing happens forever. These products I actually saw some good changes. I strongly recommend it.

Oh, I also recommend this-

This product is pretty famous- and I am sure some of you have used it before. I just really loved how It feels so cool when I put them on my legs. It smells good and makes my skin super smooth and soft. Change in cellulite? I didn't see too much difference as I did with SANA, but I was satisfied with it overall. You just feel great when you put them on.

SANA-you can easily order them from Ebay. It's easy to get them in here Korea, but

only way to get them in US or Europe would be Ebay or maybe Amazon.

I LOVE your shoulder

Is it only me who is so in love with unique shoulder designs??? I know it seems like its trend has passed awhile ago, however it is still on the top shopping list in here! I was wondering around the mall again today, and saw many similar designs numerous times... And celebrities on the television- their fashion, often matched with power shoulder jacket or dress explains everything. It still is the hot item-and I am totally obsessed with it these days...(Somehow my taste never really followed trend. My wish list items are often from-nowhere-style or, too-late-style...)

Well, my love towards power shoulder jacket began as one of my favorite Korean celebrity Hara came out with this beautiful jacket in one talk show. This is the image-

Isn't it pretty?? I loved the jacket and the way she put them together. She matched it with simple white graphic tshirts and super slim skinny jean. It was just wonderful outfit.

Second, here is one of my absolute favorite brand- Balmain.
It will be unnecessary to explain about this collection-since it's way too famous.
What a stunning garments!!! I picked my favorites from the collection- 6 of them. Power shoulder dresses are all matched with beautiful belts. I personally love the 5th picture-how gold dress is matched with thick leather belts. Made me totally go shopping for the new gold color dress-of course with power shoulder.

Power shoulder jacket is definitely must-have item for the chic and edge look. It's often matched with skinny jeans or super tight high waist skirts- of course, with sexy high heels. I picked one non-power shoulder cardigan in our collection below-since that cardigan is very unique in its design. Style of the Day from KENZI 2

Following the long trend of lace tops- matched it with the most popular denim shorts of the season. This distressed denim short matches perfectly with this new lace top. The top is much more loose fit-than our other lace tops which were tight fit- giving more freedom to add sleeveless underneath the top-you can always play with the colors or patterns inside of this type of see-thru shirts-so be creative about it!
Another hottest trend item of the season is mesh footless leggings! They are great item to add tip of punk and sexy into your outfit. I got one from Hongdae and have been wearing it pretty often since then. You don't die from the weather outside-since its blessed material still gives you space to breath.
Match it with sexy high heels or with comfortable sneakers and walkers-they match with basically anything.

Hongdae Walk

So I went to Hongdae today! Me and my friends planned out our trip to the place a week ago, since we wanted to go to famous Hongdae Free market. Free-market is held on every Saturday at the playground right in front of Hong-ik University. I have heard a lot about them so was so excited to see them finally!---until I woke up this morning and it was POURING outside...

I could not believe it.. although I still was going anyways since we didn't know if the market will be canceled or not. They did not update any information about the occasion when it rains on the market day. Anyways, we went there and oh hell.... yea the market was canceled. I only saw empty playground and was so disappointed.

However, we were going around the places since Hongdae is always one of the most fun place to visit in Korea. There are so many cute and lovely stores/cafes around that area. Here are some of the photos I took-

Pretty store I found on the way! The place had super unique interior. It was so small, and all the items were displayed along with the stairs. The place seems little bit messy, but definitely worth to visit. All the products selling inside are majorly ethnic vintage items.

Awesome graffiti and Super green house we saw... I loved the color!

Graffiti along the street-there were tons of them!!! Sure it is most popular location for the artists in Korea.

We found mini gallery on the way. It was closed but when we sneaked our peek through the window, the space was super awesome! It had very low ceiling and had metal floors and walls. It looked like some type of secret stock room of the factory-very cozy one.

The name of the gallery was Myth Hong. (It's funny when you read it in Korean since it sounds like Miss Hong. Sounds like someone's name.)

Pretty Minto Cafe on the way. Looked like you are entering some type of secret garden.

Thou their system is not our favorite (BAD drinks!!)-so we didn't choose there to snip our coffee.

It seemd like some type of public cafe that is open to everyone and offer you space to read

lots of free art magazines and art books. It also offers free wi-fi and free drinks so it seems like very reasonable place.. It was pretty restful inside too. Very quiet, clean, and simple.

We read lots of magazines..also got great information about some interesting gallery shows so we decided to go right away!

Pretty lovely stores on our way. Only sad thing was that they all had one style only- LOVELY girl concept. Simply, not my type.

This painting is from the show we went. It was my favorite piece within the gallery. I forgot about the name of the show-thou I have catalogue. I personally loved the surrealistic approach of the artist. Thou I thought that the overall quality of the paintings were little amateuristic- in the sense how she handled the paints. My friend commented that she thought it was the painting from our school's FYP final.

( no offense to the artist. We liked it overall)

After the gallery we stopped at this little mini store to grab something to eat. The store looked really cute outside so we entered, but oh no!! I immeditely smelled smoke...it was smoking-allowed place. (HATE those places.) My friend wanted to eat in this specific store so I decided to stay..

We ordered waffle and curry.(I know what an awful combination)

The foods were alright, but the magazines they had were much better.

(meaning, foods were really OK. Nothing more.)

It was still raining outside... I bought new lipstick on the way so I have it on in this picture-although you can't really see the color. It's light pink+lavender. I have been looking for this color and fortunately, found it at TONYMOLY. (personally love that store!)

Awesome cakes and sweets in bakery.. we passed by, but didn't get to eat them. We were too full...

That bakery reminded me of those typical Japanese's bakeries selling sweets. If you have gone to one of them, you know what I mean.

After walking and shopping for awhile, we explored this beautiful cafe! We wanted to sit down and have some chat so it was perfect destination.

Both of us ordered green-tea latte and the taste was- AMAZING!!! No kidding, it was the best green tea latte I have ever had in my life! Bye bye Starbucks Green tea latte! I found much better one finally! Sorry about my non-changing face expression. I will try to smile from next time.... was getting way too tired by that time. We went around way too long...

In end of the day, we met one of our other friend, and had dinner together at X-generation. It was very small and classic Korean restaurant. After that we went to watch World Cup!!! Korea vs Greece was great. We won by 2:0!! It was such a crazy night... Everyone was so excited about the game and blah blah. Now I gotta go work out so will be back with other reports!

It's Rainy here

There are so many fashionable rain boots on the street!! I was surprised when I went to Myundong since so many people were wearing them and every single stores were selling a lot of them. It definitely shows Korea's lightning-speed fashion trend that sweeps through the fashion streets-although sometime it is bit annoying to accidentally run into someone wearing the same boots as you on the street. (which happens quiet often in here)
So it seems like the simple, plain black-matte rain boots and super bright RED candy color boots are the most popular style of this season.(according to one of the seller)
We, also prepared for this cutie trend item- From simple designs to fun patterns, colors varies as well from black to bright candy colors. They are very comfy and importantly- doesn't look out of place in this weather! It's time for the rain boots-finish your casual style with these cuties-especially if you have been missing your fashionable winter boots.

Everyone knows that tshirts are one of the easiest fashion item you can put on. It's symbol of comfort, casual, freedom, and youth.(Believe or not) There are nothing better than tshirts in this hot weather to keep you feel fashionable in comfortable way. My favorite thing about them is the that they go perfect with denim shorts or skirts -Try them on with damaged denim shorts or even try XL size to wear as tunic or onepiece- match with leggings.

Putting fancy jackets on top would change the entire outfit more formal and chic.

Try on plaid button up shirts to create preppy look.

Stick them under the tight skirts. It has slimming effects and also double-fashionable by being smart balancing between Casual and Formal. Better sense of balance always creates better chic, stylish look.

Here are some of the tshirts we feature in our store. White color is always the top-seller and yes, it definitely is the most simple, and chic. However, why not try more colors? Don't be afraid-Matching bright colors with dark tone is always successful. Make sure to own at least one black/gray color bottoms. Sometime it even works better with just plain white bottoms. Depending on how bright the top colors are, be smart and balance out!

I went to Cat Cafe at Myundong on election day. Me and my brother were staying at home not doing anything when voting was done. He asked me if I wanted to go to the new cat cafe that opened recently. Hellll yeaaahhhh

The interior of the store was so adorable...(see that fish-shape neon lights?)However, there wasn't many cats than I hoped. Also there were way too many people so that small place was PACKED. We had to sign up on the waiting list and had to come back after 30 minutes. Store was pretty cute but all we could see was PEOPLE..... I thought I should come back on Monday morning or something so that I can enjoy my time with cats....

this is my FAVORITE cats named Terry. He was so cute... and very much reminded me of Garfield. He was the biggest cat in that store and looked the laziest. (I should say most 'comfortable')

Terry hid under there when too many people tried to pet him. He was so irritated.. poor thing.

Sorry for him, but I had to pet him too... haha He was so soft and gentle.

Me and my brother! We were looking for cats to pet but a lot of them were hiding on the shelves or sleeping in their beds... I guess too many people stressed them out!

I.. do not remember this kitty's name, but heard that she was only few weeks old. She was little and so hyper. She was hiding on the higher shelves so people could not reach her, but when the owner came out to play with her, she was jumping around crazy...
Isn't she so pretty??

The store had very good interior in the sense of lights- sunshine came in straight so within the store, it was so bright and warm-created soft and cozy space. (Again, if there wasn't much people it could be much better..)

And my brother found this cat sleeping in one of the sleeping house!!!! So.. pretty !!!
He was sleeping the whole time we were there so we gave up and took photo with him while he was sleeping. haha

The girl who bought "Kitty Snack" became a star to all the cats.... She stole my Terry...
All the cats went to her and enjoyed kitty snack. I should have gotten one toooo!!!!! dang

The drink within the store was alright. I ordered green tea latte and my brother orderd ice tea-peach.
They were not much different than other normal cafes. I guess it's just good to go and see the cats...
Also there were many great books about cats. See behind me, there are shelves and it's filled with cute books! If you go there, it will be shame if you don't check them out! I especially loved Ito Junji's diary about his own cats.. it was so adorable and hilarious. Who would imagine world's best horror writer would have such a lovely life with cats??

Coming back home.. passing by my favorite store VIS. (They are little pricey but have the most rare and delicate items within Myundong! Def worth to check them out.)

By the way, the Kitty House entrance fee is 8000won per person. It's one drink included so you get the drink for free and get to stay in the cafe as much as you want!

Hello Kitty Perfume?!!!!

I found these perfumes from Urban Outfitters and was so surprised that they came out! I used to be an absolute obsessive fan of Little Twin Stars and their scent of citrus fruits are soft and bright, shows their original characteristics very well. Perfume creator Demeter created these awesome sanrio characters' fragrances and they totally reflects their long-time established personalities.

They are currently on sale at Urban Outfitters so go and check them out!
Hello Kitty has very apple-y smell, which made me so nostalgic...I remember the time when I was around 7years old, my first Hello Kitty note was the image where the kitty was sitting by bunch of red apples. Hello Kitty smell=Apple! What a perfect match! I now call it the scent of a nostalgia..

cute red bunny My Melody's scent is Almond Vanilla. It's little nutty and since Vanilla is my all-time favorite scent, I immediately bought this one first! They are just little bit expensive in my standards at the moment so I only got one for now. (Each of the fragrances are $20) However, will go back to get my adorable Kitty and the Twin Stars! ( I hope the scent of Cinnamon-Roll comes out as well! My cute flying bunny...)

ABSOLUTE favorite-Anna Sui

One of my absolute favorite fashion designer is Anna Sui. I know that this is last year's collection but I just can't get over with this collection since it was way too brilliant and unique. It's a parade of her signature colors, intense patterns, and gorgeous dresses. All of the items she featured are stunning and the way she put them together on the runway- it's absolutely brilliant. Those hats and shoes, make up... amazing! I LOVE her signature color-purple. There are great amount of beautiful purple dresses in this collection and I actually purchased one of them through Ebay last winter! I have wore it to gallery openings and got so many compliments from people. Her clothes are just so creative and artistic. She is totally different than my another all-time favorite designer Tsumori Chisato. Her style is more intense, and has very strong visual impact- tightness. Her combination of rock star and girlish femine style always seems brilliant to me. Here are other photos of the collection!

Vintage Sale!

This Saturday, I went to the Vintage Sale at Damen. I was planning to visit Art Chicago Fair at noon and the plan changed when my friend called me and let me know about this awesome sale opening on Saturday. We visited the sale before we went to the fair, and it was really cool! Many different vintage stores in Chicago got together and sold wonderful items. I was so thrilled at the place to see so many things I absolutely loved. I was grabbing tons of clothes to try on, going back and forth to the dressing room.

So it was better than my normal thrift-store shopping and was definitely worth of my time. I got some stuff I just could not help myself but to bring home with me.

This amazing creeper-boots were only $25!!!!

And it is in such a good shape. The heels wasn't too low and it was super comfy

when I tried it on. I will totally keep this for next fall/winter.

This ankle boots is super adorble, except the fact it absolutely has no heels...

Well, I decided to have at least one comfy boots in my closet so I got it since it was only $15 and is almost new! It is made with suede and is so soft... I also loved the color grey since I also got the super awesome grey sweater at the sale, I thought it would be a perfect match.

This multi color stipe onepiece immediately catched my eyes..

I always wanted stripe onepiece! It is super soft, and comes down to my knee-good lengths.

I am going to wear it this week with my wedge heels. It fits my body perfectly. So cute.

When I saw this sweater, I immediately got it. I always wanted such a chunky, thick, oversized sweater! It would look amazing with my tights and boots I have at home. I also will have to wait until next fall/winter. It was only $25

I got this windbreaker since it reminded me of one of my favorite friend I met in video class. She has such a unique style and has disco/pop style that it's really hard to explain. I always have wondered where she got all of her awesome jackets and this totally was the style that I thought matches her. I thought it would be awesome to add some of comfy/artsy feel to my closet. It's oversized and super comfy. It's very thin so I am going to wear it this week as well. Looks great with black leggings and sneakers!

Anyways, It's already Monday! I hope everyone had a great weekend.

Check out this amazing preppy/chic/punk/beautiful British model- Agyness Deyn.

She is one of my favorite model- and guess what, I actually got to see her in real life

when I visited New York- at the Dr.Marten store. At first I didn't realize that it was her

since she dyed her hair into black at the time(which I didn't know)

However definitely, she has that air of I-am-a-model.

Oh yes, I saw her and immediately knew that she is not an ordinary shopper.

Before she left the store, I heard the store manager calling her name

and finally realized that it was her. I was just way too shy to look straight into her face.

What a shame!! She was super beautiful thou although I didn't get to see her clearly.

Anyways, I absolutely adore two pictures I attached here- Anna Sui's Rock You ad. I thought that this ad totally caught her punk, British rock star look. (yea, I guess there definitely are some Japanese punk aesthetic added on top of it.)

However, her real beauty is not in such flamboyant look.

Shu Uemura is my FAVORITE make up artist and has one of the most amazing cosmetics-according to my own experience. I was super excited when I heard he worked with my favorite, admiring fashion designer Tsumori Chisato. I honestly got all of the below cosmetics...

Especially that lipstick and highlighter works AMAZING.

The colors are so soft and natural.

These are the items I bought- (since I threw most of my cosmetics away since I used them about more than 6 months now..)
